RoMa Craft Intemperance EC XVIII Goodness

From RoMa Craft Tobac the Intemperance line of cigars are made to call out the temperance movement against alcohol, dating back before the turn of the 1900s.

Participants in the movement typically criticized alcohol intoxication or promoted complete abstinence (teetotalism), with leaders emphasizing alcohol’s negative effects on health, personality, and family life.

With determination and public opinion, the ratification of the 21st Amendment altered the influence of regulation.

Representing a modern-day movement against instruction, RoMa Craft Tobac’s Intemperance EC XVII takes a stand to change in the right direction.

Inspired with artwork from the bootleggers of the 1920’s, Intemperance reminds us that the modern day anti-cigar movement is alive and strong, and that it’s time for us to rise up together again and send a clear message to the FDA!

  • APPEARANCE

The Ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper is walnut shell in color with tooth, vein and visible seam.

The Intemperance EC XVIII Goodness is presented in a 5 x 56 Box Press format with a squared open foot with a bit of filler showing and a semi rounded triple cap.

One thin white matte band sits on the cigar with “INTEMPERANCE” in straight brown font with the word “CIGARS” under the main title.

On the back of the band is a brown RoMa Craft symbol.

Pre-light aroma had notes of light chocolate, vanilla wafers and mild cinnamon.

The cold draw produced flavors of cedar, mild leather and floral.

  • FIRST LIGHT

A warm sweet aroma of cedar off the toasted foot.

Initial flavors of filler only cedar char and raw walnuts.

When the blend settles with consistent combustion a bouquet of flavors emerge in the form of creamy leather, rich cedar, milk chocolate and coffee.

The background profile is producing a light spice of raw cinnamon and marzipan.

The retro-hale is producing an immediate sting of white pepper easing off with a finish of caramel.

  • CRUISE CONTROL BURN

In the second half the wide open draw is producing a copious amount of thick creamy aroma filled smoke.

Flavors of hazelnut, creamy leather, light coffee and a chocolate honeycomb sweetness.

The background profile has been consistent since first light with a gentle spice of raw cinnamon and brown sugar char with a nutty finish.

The retro-hale has increased slightly with clean white pepper evolving into flavors of toffee and caramel.

  • FINAL THIRD

In the final duration core flavors of hazelnut, creamy leather, milk chocolate and light coffee have been up front and on point.

Roasted nuts with nuances of light honey have appeared in the background.

The spicy element has been consistent and balanced with a light raw cinnamon spice with a long nutty finish keeping the Intemperance EC XVIII Goodness at straight MED bodied.

White pepper on the retro-hale has decreased slightly with a consistent finish of caramel.

  • CONSTRUCTION/STRENGTH

• CONSTRUCTION: A lighter wrapper from RoMa Craft the Ecuadorian Connecticut held its own. Slightly soft there were no blemishes, cracks or inconsistencies on the box-press vitola.

• BURN: A razor sharp burn on all examples smoked for review. Consistent combustion of wrapper, binder and filler produced a thick black carbon line.

• ASH: A semi-squared light grey ash held an inch-plus tapping off with little effort. The example used for media split and flowered at first light until falling off with no further issues to report.

• CUT: A large V-cut was used on the semi rounded cap on all examples smoked for review.

• DRAW: Wide open producing an over abundance of thick creamy white smoke with an aroma of cedar and light chocolate.

• RE-LIGHTS: Zero.

• FIRE: JetLine triple flame lightly toasted the foot, consistent combustion was achieved with long cedar matches.

• STRENGTH: Straight MED bodied wheelhouse.

  • CONCLUSION

Representing the lighter side of RoMa Craft, The Intemperance line highlights the company’s diverse portfolio.

Well known for FULL bodied PLUS offerings in the CroMagnon and Neanderthal lines the Intemperance EC XVIII Goodness was in the MED bodied range and FULL on flavor.

With a distinct profile of milk chocolate, creamy leather and hazelnut it was expertly blended by Skip Martin and Esteban Disla.

Definitely box worthy the cigar was very enjoyable, complex and balanced with a touch of honey and cinnamon spice.
