Eternal President by Lickinghole Creek Craft Brewery

He’s always first in line for the release of Three Floyds’ Dark Lord.

He’s got six years worth of vintages of Fremont’s Barrel-Aged Dark Star.

He was even drinking Bourbon County before it was cool.

He’s the Great Stout Detective and he’s always on the hunt!

When he heard rumors of a renowned Virginia Stout master dipping a 13.5% ABV Russian Imperial Stout into tequila barrels for six months, his boozy senses were positively tingling.

Then he heard it was infused with a top secret blend of chili peppers!.

“This sounds like a case for the Great Stout Detective!”

First, he hit the trade forums for Lickinghole Creek’s Eternal President no luck.

Only 88 cases were created of this mysterious elixir, “whoever has this beer is keeping it all to themselves,” he thought to himself.

So he got on a jet plane for Lickinghole’s hideout in Goochland where the only bottles exist.

“I’m here for the President,” our determined detective declared.

The bartender went into the back, and returned a moment later.

“Last bottle, my friend.” The detective poured himself a glass.

For the first time, the Great Stout Detective was stumped.

Not that he minded, with so many luxurious flavors within the bottle yet to savor, he was content to revel in the dark and spicy mystery.

“It’s delicious. Case closed!”

Appearance:

The pour was very dark with a thick tan cinnamon spongy head showing some carbonation.

Aroma:

An aroma of chocolate, coffee and tequila barrel with a fair amount of spice through the nose.

Flavor Profile:

  • Raw Cacao Nibs
  • Mild Char
  • Warm Pepper Spice
  • Cinnamon
  • Boozy Tequila/Woody

Overall:

One of the first stouts I ordered from Tavour, it’s been awaiting the pour since Nov. 2018.

An easy drinking tequila barrel aged stout with warm spices on the aftertaste.

It’s loaded with raw dark cacao nibs, cinnamon and pepper spice and a fair amount of carbonation.

A nice balance of sweet and bitter on the warm spicy finish.
