The Ghosts In Their Eyes from Anchorage Brewing Company

There just aren’t enough fruity, funky, wild yeast-infused Brett IPAs in the World.

Our team loves them, our members rated the few we’ve offered admirably, but in our entire history at Tavour we’ve only been privy to 3 Brett IPAs.

It’s a difficult style to master, and most IPA makers play it safe and keep their brewing programs free of the unpredictable wild yeast.

But they just taste so delicious, we’re glad an elite brewery like Anchorage, named one of Paste Mag’s Best Craft Breweries, took on the challenge with Ghosts In Their Eyes.

To make it, Anchorage crams the mango and grapefruit notes of Citra and Galaxy Hops into a peachy, wild Brett base until it reaches fruity peaks of flavor that challenge even the most trendy NE-Style IPAs.

Dry hopping extracts maximum fruity character of the hops, leaving minimal residual bitterness.

Today we’re calling on our members to prove that Brett IPA fandom is on the rise.

Help us drink the shit out of this premier example of the style and we’ll be sure to seek out more of the best Brett IPAs for you in the future.

Appearance:

The pour is pale yellow pineapple juice with minimal agitated lacing.

Very little carbonation with a quick dissipating soapy white head.

Aroma:

A nose of subtle citrus hops.

Mild yeast with an earthy floral and light fruit aroma of mango, lime and peach.

Flavor:

  • Apricot
  • Peach
  • Mango
  • Lemon
  • Floral
  • Doughy Bread/Malt
  • Grass/Pine

Overall:

Interesting! Dry hopped with Citra and galaxy hops.

This is my first experience with a Brett style IPA.

A nice balance of juicy tropical flavors with a fusion of Belgian style malt with a dry finish.
