La Palina 2019 IPCPR




La Palina Cigars had some familiar products with a new Large ring gauge offering called Double Digit on display at the 2019 IPCPR in Las Vegas NV.

(Brand History) In 2010, Bill Paley revived La Palina, a brand his grandfather created in Chicago in the mid-1800s.

At the start, the cigars were expensive and manufactured in the Bahamas.

The brand soon gained traction in the marketplace and now includes several lines that have garnered several scores of 90 points or higher.


LP01 Sizes and Blend:

  • Robusto: 5 1/2 x 50
  • Petit Corona: 4 1/2 x 44
  • Toro: 6 1/2 x 52
  • Gordo: 6 x 60
  • Wrapper: Ecuadorian Sumatra Seed
  • Binder: Costa Rica
  • Filler: Nicaraguan, Honduran


La Palina Number 1 or LP #1 uses a Costa Rican binder, with  an Ecuador Sumatra wrapper and Nicaraguan, Honduran tobaccos.

The cigar is made by Nestor Plasencia in Honduras.



La Palina Number 2 or LP #2 is the Maduro version of the La Palina Number series.

A unique Costa Rican leaf wrapper, with Honduran binder and fillers from Nicaragua and Honduras, La Palina Number 02 is also made by Nestor Plasencia in Honduras.

  • Robusto: 5 x 52
  • Petit Corona: 4 1/2 x 44
  • Toro: 6 1/2 x 54
  • Gordo: 6 x 58
  • Wrapper: Costa Rican Maduro
  • Binder: Honduras
  • Filler: Nicaraguan, Honduran


Other LP Product on display this year included the Red and Bronze label, Goldie and a monster called Double Digit that measures 6 x 60 and uses an Ecuadorian wrapper with a blend of Dominican, Nicaraguan and undisclosed fillers. Available in 50 count boxes.
